Stockton, California recently became the largest city to file for bankruptcy in American history. And now we know why. (Spoiler alert: big banks, government corruption, greed.) They interviewed a lot of Stockton employees who got formally screwed over (healthcare cut, retirement accounts wiped out) when the city went bankrupt. It’s really heartbreaking and poignant to see the impact of austerity on human lives up close.
Do you ever think about the fact that the US has created and legitimized a system of institutionalized inequality by funding schools through property taxes? That basically a child’s education is only as good as the value of the property in their neighborhood. Funny how education is so often viewed as an equalizing factor when there is nothing equal about it.

Going to sound like a broken record but totally in tears after listening to this because it was so amazing.
I have to wonder how many NRA members would shriek if the Federal Government passed a law requiring all gun owners to participate monthly in a government-run militia. And if it was worded right? They would have no Constitutional right to complain. To me, that sounds like the best method of handling gun ownership. Currently, gun ownership is a “right” but a lazy right. How many gun owners don’t regularly use their guns? Keep them in a forgotten closet or the like in case of emergency? So let’s require all gun owners to belong to government-run militias as dictated in the Constitution. The militias will include physical exercise regimens, gun safety and protocol, target practice, and the like. Oh, and a gun buyback program so that anyone who doesn’t want to belong to the militia can opt out by no longer owning a gun.

my grandfather ran a cheetah sanctuary in south africa and he’d just lie with them and sleep among them and they’d rub against him and chirp at him they’re big fucking babies
Another Fun Fact: Cheetah’s are incredibly nervous animals. One of the (many) reason’s they’re going extinct is that cheetah’s are so sensitive and nervous, some of them are literally too nervous to breed. Other’s will breed, but stress themselves out so much, they’ll loose their cubs.
So zoo’s with breeding program’s had to figure out how to make Cheetah’s comfortable enough to first of all, get laid and secondly - not spazz themselves into miscarrying.
So what’d they do?
They gave the cheetah’s their very own Service Dogs!
The dogs make them feel safe, protected and secure!
